Three different editions of Pixies are provided, to meet different needs in terms of medical image series analysis. All will run on Windows®, SolarisTM, L inuxTM or Mac OS® X.

Micro Edition
Pixies Micro Edition is a freeware that allows the user to test the software and solve the most simple problems. Pixies Micro Edition features :
  • Extraction from an image series (2D + time) of the main physiological functions and associated images representing the tissues corresponding to each physiological function.
  • Tools for data exploration.
  • Generic processing (thresholding, filtering, sampling, geometric transforms, etc).
  • User-friendly interface.
  • Reading and writing raw, PDS (Pixies DataSet), Interfile and classical image formats (JPEG, BMP, TIFF, ...).

Standard Edition
This edition will meet the need of research laboratories, radiologists and physicians who are willing to comprehensively analyze images series and whose data require advanced and specific analysis tools.

Pixies Standard Edition includes all features of Pixies as well as:
  • Reading and writing DICOM V3.0 file format.
  • Reading AnalyzeTM 7.5 file format.
  • Reading AVI and QuickTime® file format.
  • Advanced control of factor analysis using more constraints, precise exploration of principal components space, and more parameters.
  • Processing n-dimensional data (3D + time, multi-band images, etc).
  • Exportation of results to office applications (word processor, presentation graphics, etc) using Drag & Drop.
  • Automatic image registration.
  • Client/server configuration.

Developer Edition
Pixies Developer Edition is meant for investigators willing to include their own processing components in Pixies or who wish to write scripts to repeat automatically processing procedures.

In addition to all features of the Standard Edition, Pixies Developer Edition includes:
  • Facilities to include one's own processing components, written in C or Java.
  • Facilities to add one's own image formats, as special processing components or as standard Java Image I/O plugins.
  • Scripting facilities.
  • Custom colorscales.
